Now that is cool. Who knew? From 1974-1979 Andrea Branzi was director of an Italian state sponsored programme for the Centro Design e Servizi. The company was Montefibre and the project was given the name Decorattivo (and the logo of two friendly insects).
The first of three Decorattivo volumes. This is 1975. The following two years were also published as books under the titles Decorattivo 1 and Decorattivo 2. This first volume - in loose folder format - is so intensely desirable as to be irresistible - we have locked it in a cupboard in the office.
And this is why. Branzi lets rip with the fabric. These books provide unrivalled reference to the patterns but also the sources of inspiration and the means to move from research to results.
Colour treatise. The nineteen thirties on fast forward. Overtaken by the past.
The covers of '76 and '77. They are exceptionally rare. Very likely issued on subscription only, this set was originally sent to the architect Paolo Portoghesi.
