Woe Onto Those...

WOE ONTO THOSE WHO SPIT ON THE FEAR GENERATION THE WIND WILL BLOW IT BACK ... RAF SIMONS'
SPRING SUMMER 2002 COLLECTION DRESSED AN ADOLESCENT ARMY AGAINST THE THREAT OF
MINDNUMBING GLOBALISATION.

This is the lookbook for what could well have been the most important menswear collection of the 2000s. Raf Simons' 'Fear Generation' was conceived before 9/11 and predated by days the G8 Summit of July 2001 that saw 23 year old Italian protestor, Carlo Giuliani, shot dead.

This has to be the most holey of black knit sweaters since the Rei Kawakubo Comme des Garcons original as shown in Leonard Koren's New Fashion Japan (in stock in Dover Street Market this week).

The CCTV friendly hoodie reads Be Pure Be Vigilant Behave. See the images in their grainy video-still glory on this link. The copy is signed and numbered 7/200 and, yes, we only have/had one copy.

It's too much for us to explain or analyse. It is just too good, isn't it? Set in a school yard and shot on video by Willy Vanderperre. The image is everything. That's your look for spring summer and that's your defense against the crushing authoritarianism of globalization.

Make sure you wrap up warm! Not sure this look is quite what most mothers would have in mind! On the subject of signed Simons superbooks, we also have a copy of Isolated Heroes this week.

And on the subject of authoritarianism and globalization, our Instagram account dematerialised this week. Retooled and reloaded, we are @ideabooksltd. Vous ne pouvez plus ignorer!
