Gentlemen's Clubs

PASTMODERNISM. NEW WORDS FOR OLD WORLDS. THE GENTLEMEN'S CLUBS OF LONDON IS A KEYSTONE OF THE IDEA SUPERBOOK ESTABLISHMENT. A VISUAL HISTORY OF WHAT, HOW, WHERE AND WHEN IT WAS DONE. AND DONE CORRECTLY.

Goals - as they say on Instagram. Me and You. Us. The Smoking Room at the United Service Club at 116 Pall Mall. Established in 1815, the original members were veterans of the Napoleonic Wars. The two gentlemen above possibly took up membership some time later than that. Possibly.

The Eccentric Club. Then of Ryder Street, SW1. The book was first published in 1979 and then again in 1984. It documented a great many clubs that were about to disappear. The United Service Club had already closed and was replaced at Pall Mall by the Institute of Directors in 1978. The Eccentric Club closed in 1986.

The ballroom of Lansdowne House. That is one very big rug. In other observations; the buttercream, turquoise, pistachio and salmon pink is a massively brilliant colourway.
