Palace Agenda

GO TO THE TOP OF THE
WORLD CLASS. IN ANY
HISTORY OF THE NIGHT, LE PALACE HOLDS A MAGESTIC PLACE ALONGSIDE STUDIO
54, KU, THE HAÇIENDA... THE PARISIAN CLUB PUBLISHED
ITS OWN MAGAZINE, WHICH
IS RARE ENOUGH, BUT ALSO THREE YEARBOOKS, WHICH ARE... UNSPEAKABLE
SCARCE.

In all our lives thus far. Nothing as fabulous as this. The Le Palace Agenda 1981. There were three published - by Prosper Assouline. One year either side of this. And we have all three. 1980. 1981. 1982.

They are legend. The photographs are. The people are. Rod Stewart (above), whose birthday is one of the significant dates printed in the diary pages of the 1980 Agenda. Birthdates are also given for Marvin Gaye, Kenzo and Brian Eno along with the deaths of Billie Holiday and Sid Vicious. The only diary anyone ever needed is the only diary anyone ever wanted.

Pictures of people looking cool. That's what we do. It's what these books do. Yellow petal skirted woman dances alone on a single page from the 1982 edition. You can see more of these three books on this link. Possibly / probably / definitely the best Google photo album we ever uploaded.

Double wow. Terrific portrait of Yves and the most extraordinary poster design for the Paris Jungle Fever night. 1982 was the same year that Jean-Paul Goude's Jungle Fever was published - also in Paris. It was all happening.

Gay Excitation. Denim action. If you had to pick one set of coordinates in all of space and time then to be here in this club in 1982... would not disappoint.

One page of wonder by Philippe Morillon closes out the 1980 book and heralds a golden age of serious celebration.

And then there are pictures - many pictures - we have never seen before. You can right click this pic now and search on Google. Search in vain. It is (until today of course when we have published this newsletter) unfindable. Amaze picture too.

Now is about the time in the reading of this newsletter that you might start wondering about how much these three books would cost. We were thinking the same thing. We have been looking for ten years for a complete set. These are the first we have found. Does that make them more expensive? Yes.

OK. And let's go. Let's click buttons and buy things and make this day shine bright like Paris at night.
