New York Rocker

IF A BOOK DOES NOT EXIST BUT
SHOULD EXIST AND ALL THE
MATERIAL IS AT HAND... (AND THERE
IS FRESH TONER IN THE
PHOTOCOPIER AND NO ONE COMES
IN THE OFFICE AT NIGHT ANYWAY)...
IS IT SO BAD TO JUST QUICKLY RUN
UP A FEW HUNDRED COPIES?

This is a genuine fake! A book of New York Rocker that is entirely composed of xerox'd pages. It does not have an ISBN number and whoever published it has wisely decided not to credit themselves. It just exists. We found it and we can't find another. The perfect IDEA Books Superbook!

It may not have been legal but it is hard to argue with the necessity of the publication. New York Rocker was not widely distributed outside of the US. There was no NYR book, so why not make one?

Die Originalen. Bobby Grossman pasted Lou Reed on a German Cornflakes box and invented pop/punk art and went on to photograph a series of punk stars eating cereal (as you do). In the spirit of punk DIY you can now make your own David Byrne box with our handy two photo kit.

Brian Eno suits a photocopy, don't you think? In the official year of David Bowie, it comes as something of a relief to see an image of his almost ethereal collaborator. We have had to boost the colour and the contrast to max factor nine just so you can see anything at all! Very feint.

Gig posters become pages of this book. In fact it is hard to find a page of this book that couldn't have been pasted up on the wall of the Max's Kansas City. View a lot more of the book in all its high contrasting glory here.

The Feelies. IDEA Books new favourite band (by looks and dress sense only of course). Four different collars in one band and they are all good! Only Joy Division matched that record! The band's debut Crazy Rhythms is well worth hearing. But if you like it harder and faster try this link.
