The Smiths

THE DIFFERENCE IT MAKES.  THE SMITHS SUPERBOOK. A JAPANESE ICON BOOK PUBLISHED IN 1994 AND QUITE LIKELY THE BEST BOOK OF ANY BAND BEFORE OR AFTER. RARE, YES. AND RARE THAT ANYTHING CAN POSSESS SUCH MAGIC AND REMAIN SO SECRET. UNTIL NOW.

Good grief. It's good. Undesign like that can't be faked. Such simplicity can not be underthought. Just the photo, the face and the text. And it's perfect.

The Smiths on the video entry system. That is how to take a band photo. All text in the book is Japanese and where there are credits in English they are VERY confusing. As a result we don't know who took this photograph. Whoever it was wins our very highest praise.

This picture of Johnny Marr is by Paul Slattery. As are the Morrissey portraits below. His photographs are amazing but look more so on the matt grey paper of this book.

Steven Morrissey. Paul Slattery. Doubly brilliant.

Not just about him. The front and back covers fold out to reveal equally blurry mugshots of Johnny, Andy and Mike. Couldn't really be more Baader-Meinhof!

And the book is not all there is. It comes with six 10"x8" colour prints. It is a super charmed superbook. It marks the start of what will be a brilliant year. See more of the book on this link. Hit the button below to try and buy.
