AFRICAN HAIRSTYLES OR
THE ART OF THE BRAID. AN EASY TRANSLATION OF A FRENCH SUPERBOOK. ALL
THE TEXT IS FRENCH WHILE
ALL THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE
IN THE INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE OF COOL! QUITE STAGGERINGLY COOL IS
WHAT THEY ARE.

Big book this one. Tall. Published in 1988 in France by Nouvelles Éditions Africaines. It is the work of Albert Ferral. He is credited with text and photographs. It is completely wonderful.

The photographs are exceptionally good.

Like a lot better than you would ever expect. Brilliant composition and light and girls and women as great as subjects as any model ever was.

Attitude is there in every picture. There aren't enough African hairstyle books and those that do exist sell so fast as to be both rare and valuable. None of them are as good as this book. This really is the real deal.

Epic.

And just fabulous. This is as much about people as hair. The book itself carries an extensive French text - in sections for four regions; les styles Damagarawa, Maradawa, Adarawa, Konnawa-Aréwa.

Loving this contemporary (as in 1988) style. This picture above is the fourth in a step-by-step how-to get the look sequence.

And another absolute gem of a photograph. There are so many - we could have included any. It is such a great book. It is also the only book - as in the only copy we can find. Perfect qualifications for a superbook: rare, really great, people looking world class cool. Wonderful!
