Contemporary Japanese Houses

GET REAL WITH THE ESTATE. CONTEMPORARY JAPANESE HOUSES VOL 1 & 2. TWO

TIMES THE MOST DESIRABLE SET OF HOMES AND

INTERIORS AND DREAMS

YOU WILL EVER SEE. THEY

ARE EVERY PAGE ADORABLE THESE BOOKS. IT ALMOST HURTS TO LOOK. JUST WANT

IT SO MUCH!

Number one. 1964 this was published. And then...

The Godfather II of interiors books - the 1968 sequel is even better than the original.

Inside. And already the deep desire to just move right in there. Some kitchen that is. And the floor! Now we want crazy paving in the IDEA office!

The black and white illustrations are gravure printed - as was the way in this period of Japanese publishing. This one doesn't need much help to look absolutely astonishing.

The colour illustrations are all tipped in. Glued at the corners. It is a super charming effect. Like having a book of postcards of places you would ever so like to visit to send your own postcards. This summer house in the mountains is beyond brilliant. Just dying here. Don't know about you.

One super cool roof.

And this is inexplicable really. A bedroom apparently. Can't begin to explain. But we like it :)

Just imagine. How clear your thoughts would be. If you lived here. How great your work would be. You would be a better person. You would be kind to others forever.

Distinctly western seating arrangements. And that whole nineties IKEA inspired craze for wooden flooring. If only you had thought then to do the walls instead.

Both books are too good. The definition of superbooks. 400 pages of consummate detail between them. A whole other world to explore and never need more. To never leave. Just love forever.
