DRESSAGE Vol.1 No.1 1977. WHAT AN AMAZING TITLE
FOR A MAGAZINE THAT IS. STRAIGHT OUT OF JAPAN. NEVER EVEN KNEW WE
WERE LOOKING FOR IT.
BOUGHT IT BLIND, SIGHT UNSEEN, OPENED IT UP AND
IT'S A TOTAL AMAZINE!

To start with we opened the international express packaging to find that cover. Not only is DRESSAGE the most amazingly great title, but that cover concept is inspired.

Yes, Sukita, the photographer whose long life credits include David Bowie's Heroes album cover and the very, very scarce Mystery Train film book, shot this absurdly good fashion meets horse racing story. And yes the model is on a seventies skateboard.

The second great fashion story. Keep to the right is the title. The Japanese text underneath reads: The correct way to ride an escalator. Definitely the correct way to make a magazine. Keep to the left field.

1970's supermodel Karen Graham is profiled in riding gear except for this horses for courses golfing photo...

...and this majorly impressively art directed inset colour Estée Lauder campaign portrait.

Helmut Newton is given a full portfolio.

Suzi Quatro advertises Sake Rocks Ozeki. The whole issue is like some fantasy dream magazine made completely real. Just ever so ridiculously rare. It's new to the IDEA newsletter and new to the internet age as of now!

Sukita's model now naked and on roller skates! Figured you wanted to know what happened next!
