Patti Smith Galerie Veith Turske

AT ONE TIME. THERE WERE THREE THOUSAND COPIES OF THIS BOOK. THAT WAS 1977. AND NOW. THERE ARE THREE. PUBLISHED IN COLOGNE BY THE GALERIE VEITH TURSKE. WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN JUST ANOTHER ART CATALOGUE IS NOT. IT IS A SUPERBOOK AND THE BEST PATTI SMITH WE HAVE SEEN. LIKE EVER.

Ready for this one? This is a good one. The cover and 140 pages following. We have never seen it before. Never knew. Always new.

Talkie-Walkie. In love with this picture already. For an art catalogue it has a proper understanding of what people want to see - pictures of Patti looking cool. And how cool.

And here is the art. Full pages. Drawing / stencil / collage. Great.

And the graphic art. Part 'proper' art book / part 'proper' fanzine. There are poems and lyrics and handwritten scribblings and photocopied photographs and press clippings. It is all of this - over every page. Fantastic.

If it is a Patti Smith fanzine it is also a Arthur Rimbaud, Robert Mapplethorpe and Georgia O'Keefe fanzine by Patti Smith. She read poetry at the gallery in Cologne in 1977 - on Rimbaud's birthdate. The audio recording was released on cassette. You can hear it here

Beautiful back cover. Brilliant book.

We have three copies. That's all we can find in the world. Now lets sell them!  Hit the button below and we'll do this.
