Of course we discovered this new amazine superbook by way of Marni's Francesco Risso and his extraordinary new A Magazine Curated By issue. He persuaded Blanco to return to the overpainted porno theme and make all the clothes Marni. Those works are wonderful and you can buy the A Mag issue here on this link. This book (above) is the original, published in 2009, styled as an adult mag with the same cheap paperstock. It's a postmodern miracle! In our better late than never opinion. 
 

The faces and sometimes the hands are left as the untouched, photographic original. In this one we get satin pillows too. It is just the rest of the page that gets the paint reinvention. Many are brilliantly mundane, some, like this one, have a recontextualised passion of their own. 
 

When we say brilliantly mudane - we mean these two perfect pages. Cockroach to the left so perfectly matched to the facial expression. Nose pick on the right. Great painted fashions in both. Blanco is really, really good at painting clothes!
 

There are men too. From both straight and gay source material. And they scrub up well, the men. 
 

A whole musical theme! Panpipes have been a favourite since 1983 when we first saw Incantations of Top of the Pops. If porn mags can get reworked so superbly, surely Incantations can have a remix? Or is their Eurotrashsmash still too offensive? 
 

There is a lot, lot more to this paint perfection amazine superbook. But for that you would need to own it. They are not even expensive. Just very hard to find. If showing sold out then mail us on this link. There will be more!
