IDEA RELEASE A DAVID AND VICTORIA HAT! AND, IN
OTHER NEWS... THE SPICE GIRLS MAKE THEIR FIRST SUPERBOOK APPEARANCE WITH THIS ONE HUNDRED
AND TWENTY PICTURE
(GOTTA GET THEM ALL) OFFICIAL PHOTO ALBUM
FROM THE YEAR OF 1997.
THE TIME IS RIGHT!

Wow! Got to love British mainstream pop graphic design :) This is a six by ten inch power pack of a product. You can still feel its confident positioning now. There are 120 great photos inside and it knows it!

Posh sneer. This has to be the best Victoria Beckham photo ever. The vast majority of the photos in this album are refreshingly snapshot / unposed / perfect.

Half an half. Two candid. Two posed. None of them retouched.

Inside the covers - the checklist. The owner of this album did actually have no.61 - they just forgot to tick it. We have THREE of these albums and they are all complete. That's the key part. They were sold as albums and then the photo prints were released weekly in packs. Truly complete albums are RARE. Teenage tantrums will have taken place over these albums!

Emma Bunton with the big curls. We'd like to think that was a phone aerial poking out but... it's a hair grip. This was 1997 not 1897 after all!

Pop socks. Posh Spice and the best damn-needs-darning photograph in modern music.

The greenest hue of blue. Another point and shoot pre-digital photograph to delight in. The TV camera lighting rig turning Emma's tremendously wedged heels (and the crew's jeans) the colour of cobalt chloride and potassium stannate.

We did think Victoria was going to be the star of this album but Baby Spice is consistently delivering the gladiatorial gold.

Posh bites back. Obvs not quite grunge enough for seat up and knickers down. But still very nineties! And Victoria was still maybe a decade away from her Marc Jacobs Juergen Teller reprisal...
The whole thing is FANTASTIC. And very nearly 30 years old. And actually complete - for which you have to thank someone who is probably 40 years old...
