Study Volume 03, a lengthy exploration of Dakar by photographer Romain Laprade. Editor-in-Chief Christopher Niquet has for years admired Romain Laprade’s composed yet spontaneous images. After unfruitful months spent developing a book project together around a specific Dakar building, they decided to explore the Senegalese capital for a volume of Study. In May 2022, Romain Laprade flew to Dakar and spent days walking around the city documenting its architecture. The resulting images are a silent homage to a place filled with architectural wonders. Whether it be the facades of institutional building or of private homes, Laprade captured the eclectic beauty of this West African metropolis. The issue also includes a fashion insert photographed by Julien Martinez Leclerc and styled by Charlotte Collet with models from the Senegalese diaspora in Paris.
