Vanity Magazine Antonio

IN THE TALENT LOTTERY,

SOME GUYS HAVE ALL THE LUCK. IN THE 70s AND 80s, ANTONIO LOPEZ WON BIG.

THE CREATE IT FREEDOM HE HAD ON ANNA PIAGGI'S

VANITY MAGAZINE WAS LEGEND. INDIVIDUAL ISSUES ARE SUPER SCARCE BUT

NOT AS RARE, IT SEEMS, AS THIS ONE BOOK OF IT ALL.

Like Prince with a paint brush. Antonio! Published by IDEA BOOKS in 1988 (that's a different IDEA and a very great one). It's a self portrait of course - the artist at work.

Cover art for
Vanity July 1983. For a few years, the magazine was almost entirely illustrated. It was phenomenal.

The great thing about this book - it shows the workings. Unlike with a conjuring trick, seeing how it was done, only makes Antonio's work more magical.

This book is edited by Anna Piaggi but not all the editorial pages are from
Vanity. This page is credited to Elle, France. Dates back to 1975.

New York City Portraits 1985-1986. Extra brilliant in this book with matt inked pages.

Our favourite of many pages. The painted swimsuit and gloved hand rested on the male model's shorts. For a Missoni campaign, 1985.

The whole book is completely super charmed and wonderful. Antonio would have no better editor than Anna Piaggi. The book was made in tribute to him, published alongside a retrospective show in Milan, one year after he died in 1987. It is so incredibly of
his time.

There is just one copy for sale anywhere in the world today and it's right here on the red button below.
