Vogue Paris par Sofia Coppola

MISE EN SCÈNE: PARIS

VOGUE. SOFIA COPPOLA'S DECEMBER ISSUE. TWO THOUSAND AND FOUR. WITH TWO THOUSAND AND MORE REASONS TO BE VERY GLAD THAT WE HAVE IT. BILL

MURRAY, KIRSTEN DUNST,

SUE MENGERS BEING JUST THREE OF THEM. THE LAST

OF THE GREAT DÉCEMBRE AMAZINES MAY JUST BE THE FIRST ONE YOU OWN.

This tradition of Paris Vogue handing the editorship of its December issues to exceptionally creative individuals has been brilliantly in place since 1969. We have written about many of them: The first and foremost of all being
Françoise Sagan, then Salvador Dali (1971), Roman Polanski (1975), and David Hockney (1985). All of them wild classique amazines. And Sofia's 2000's entry... is up there with the best of them.

You may know it from this legend of a portrait. Often posted on IG by IDEA on Christmas Day with a Santa caption. It is a hell of a good picture.

Or from this wonder. Kirsten Dunst. Posted on a Sunday with a Strawberry Sundae caption. It is magical.

Then there are the fashion photographs of Sofia herself. The cover shoot by Mario Testino and this dinner jacket / fag break special by Inez and Vinoodh.

There are pages and pages of scrapbook style montages and mood boards. This gem among them.

And this is only some of the
Lost In Translation era location snaps.

A whole world of women. Sofia's inspiration pages.

And a full feature on the late super great Sue Mengers. She represented (and it is such a great list we will share it in full) Candice Bergen, Peter Bogdanovich, Michael Caine, Dyan Cannon, Cher, Joan Collins, Brian De Palma, Faye Dunaway, Bob Fosse, Gene Hackman, Sidney Lumet, Ali MacGraw, Steve McQueen, Mike Nichols, Nick Nolte, Tatum O'Neal, Ryan O'Neal, Burt Reynolds, Cybill Shepherd, Barbra Streisand, Gore Vidal, and Tuesday Weld amongst others!! Lovely house too, by the look of it.

And there is Quentin. Intimate pic.

But mostly there is just Sofia Coppola stuff! Lots and lots of stuff, which is what we like and love and need to see endlessly.

An extraordinarily good issue and now super scarce for the obvious reason that everyone wants one. We cued up a few for this superbook/amazine newsletter. If you are lucky, there may still be one in stock as you read this. Hit up the button below to find out!
