1986

NINETEEN EIGHTY-SIX.

HAPPY THAT YEAR! THE

SMITHS THE QUEEN IS DEAD, PRINCE PARADE, SLAYER

REIGN IN BLOOD. BETTY

BLUE, BLUE VELVET AND PRETTY IN PINK! AND NOW A SUPER STYLED SUPERBOOK THAT COMES BOUND IN A TOWELLING HEADBAND.

WHAT A GREAT NEW OLD

YEAR THIS IS ALREADY.

That's the book. That's the headband. Michael Kerstgens' 1986. Published in 2021. This is the special limited edition with the band and with the signed print. 150 of these were published. And we have a perfect ten.

The print. And, oh my, so much going on. Not least the wheels. Flipper's and DoYou!!! skate raves put the pleasure back into leisure last year and will do it all again in 2022. There's some very fruity pastels in this picture. VOGUE pants beat the BOSS INTERNATIONAL pants by virtue of the colourway and, obviously, some world class belting! This is a German book of German youth so expect to see some amazing hair; new wave mullets as metal meets pastel shaded sportswear.

Good grief. Girl to the right is gawping at his greatness. Girl to the left is transfixed by her friend's transfixation! Yes, he's a handsome man - but doesn't he know! He's also wearing three items of out of this world class clothing at once - and has sunglasses on a sports string. Wow!

Synchronised suede boots. This woman showing how - before the casual streetwear revolution, people would wear to the club, what we might now wear to bed.

Wow. Can't imagine what she is in training for but this dual aspect photograph really is the sum of its parts.

Just love a TR7. You probably can't see on your phone but the driver side mirror has a Playboy Bunny decal. Of course it does. If you want one of these Triumph TR7's in Triton green
see this link. And if you don't have twelve grand, try this link

And finally... Esprit beats Boss! Battle of branded white sweats adjudicated by the pretty in pink referee.

The book is a pastel paletted dream. The uber reference to the the mid-eighties Euro look and has a love it forever photographic print tucked inside. All yours on the button below and a very happy new old year from IDEA :)
