Apartamento

INSANE IN THE MUNDANE! APARTAMENTO. THE INTERIORS MAGAZINE OF EVERYDAY LIFE. EPICALLY EVERYDAY IS WHAT IT IS.

THEY TOOK THE INTERIOR DESIGNER OUT OF INTERIOR DESIGN. THE RESULT IS A VERY COOL MESS. LOOK FAMILIAR? IT'S BASICALLY YOUR BEDROOM.

Featuring Elein Fleiss. The Purple magazine co-founder is the key to this magazine. Her lo-fi approach to
Purple and Purple Journal, paved the way for this aesthetically appeasing approach to an interiors magazine. The first issue from 2008. A long time we have waited to find Nacho Alegre and Omar Sosa's apartamento no.1 - just so we could write this newsletter and celebrate one of the wonders of the modern world. The undesigned space.

David Armstrong's kitchen from
apartamento no.3 (2009). This is the apartamento look. The inner working of the creative mind.

The discreet language of living rooms. Back to the first issue for this formal exercise in the appreciation of middle class living rooms photographed by Annette Merrild. apartamento is nothing if not the ultimate visual reference for every Production Design, Set Designer and Art Director in the world.

Completely classic unclassic. Elein Fleiss's bedroom from the first issue.

It has a name. Ad-hocism.

Amy Arbus's
No Place Like Home was 1986. Kyoichi Tsuzuki's super book Tokyo Style was published in 1993. Tracey Emin's My Bed was 1998. apartamento 2008 - to date. How people live.

Completing our bedroom series. Before Instagram, these were rare opportunities to see into the lives of others. Post Instagram, these are even rarer opportunities to see into the REAL lives of others.

Top and tailed. The cover of issue no.10. Included here because we have first ten issues as a run. And because it features the late (and great) design guru and Dimes raconteur, Jim Walrod...

Jim lived above a hardware store in New York's Chinatown. In fact the access to his apartment was through the store. He's sadly no longer with us. But his
apartamento cover issue will live forever.

So 1-10 of
apartamento on the link below. Just the one set. And trust us - those first three issues are painfully hard to find! Fortunately for you, you only need buy them once :)
