KYOICHI TSUZUKI IS THE PHOTOGRAPHER AND DOCUMENTARIST WHO MADE THE TOKYO STYLE AND HAPPY VICTIMS. IN 2001, HE RELEASED UNIVERSE FOR RENT. IT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD CLASS BRILLIANT. A THIRD SUPERBOOK! UNDER THE TATAMI FRISBEE COVER... EIGHT HUNDRED PAGES OF JAPANESE DOMESTIC SUPER STYLE.

Published after Tokyo Style and Happy VictimsUniverse For Rent combines all the content of those two classic books...

The beautiful chaotic clutter and the museum grade fashion collections that are squeezed into tiny Japanese apartments...

...and introduces new interiors we had not seen before like this improvised bathtub above. And then the book does something else... Tokyo Style interiors were rooms filled with everything but the people who lived in them... in this book we get to see them... naked.

Almost everyone in the book is nude. Nothing wrong with that of course. What you do in your own home...

Two dogs are introduced in this scene of domestic comfort. But that is only a warm-up for the cat pic below.

A note on the page does say that the ginger cat enjoys being stretched like that. We were drawn first, however, not even to the gas mask, but the orbital wire construction around the lady's head.

Biker jacket and dress hanging to the right. To the left, having fixed a drink, the owner of this apartment in leather boots and accessories.

These two are dressed. The photograph is a great reminder of the beautiful limp light that Tsuzuki captures in his interior photographs. The text is great too btw. In Japanese and English translation. This is from the inside cover blurb:

Study hard, work hard, they always tell us, that's how you can get the good things in life. But wait, just consider how many Japanese out there enjoy plenty happy lives without any such 'upwardly mobile' ambitions.

The same light and beautiful blues but with bare flesh back again. 800 pages there are and all as good as this. Quite how we overlooked this book for the past quarter of a century we have no idea. It is AMAZING!

Right now we have two copies. You can buy one or even both of them on the red button below. We are all only 25 years late so let's go!
