Miles Davis Jazz Improvisation

A LITTLE IMPROVISATION.
THE COOL COVER OF A
BOOK WE SPENT FOREVER NOT KNOWING WE WERE LOOKING FOR. MILES DAVIS JAZZ IMPROVISATION. PUBLISHED IN 1975. FORTY-FIVE YEARS OF WAITING TO
BE FOUND. AND ALL THE WHILE, IT WAS THE BEST BOOK IN THE WORLD :)

Damn. It is good and it's rare. Miles Davis Jazz Improvisation. The transcribed scores of the solos Miles played. In 2020, there will of course be an app and an algorithm that could do that. In 1975, no. This would have been quite some piece of work. A personal mental algoryhthm and some deeply concentrated listening and re-listening required. The man with the ear was Terumasa Hino.

You can try it yourself. Test your musical shorthand along to the track - kindly hosted here by YouTube. By the way, the album had a cool and quite revealing sleeve

If you can't read music. You can read the pictures. And this says 'Statuesque'. The book is illustrated throughout with iconic pics of Miles. There were a lot to choose from by 1975.

Not that Richard Carpenter! Although he did record this with his sister. It is really not the same thing.

Got to love the back cover. Like, a lot! The whole book is so super cool. For the effort involved in putting it together, for the fact that it looks and feels like lost treasure, for the plain painful truth that it is so insane scarce.

We have one.
