Founded in 2007 by DJ Benji B and host Judah Afriyie, Deviation began as a small night for music lovers and gradually grew into a fixture of London’s nightlife. Over the years, it has developed a reputation for its open-minded approach to sound and its commitment to supporting both emerging and established artists.

To mark 18 years of Deviation, These Are the Levels brings together more than 300 photographs from London, Paris, and New York, documenting the nights, people, and places that shaped the collective’s story. The book includes rare and iconic images of artists such as Moodymann, Jamie xx, Arca, Floating Points, Dean Blunt, Yasiin Bey, Kaytranada, A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, Goldie, Madlib, Skepta, Sampha, Erykah Badu, and Virgil Abloh.

Published independently by the Deviation team, These Are the Levels offers an intimate visual chronicle of the people, venues, and moments that defined the journey. Much of the imagery predates camera phones and social media, offering an authentic glimpse into a pre-digital era of club culture, when resident photographers captured the energy of the night from behind the decks to the dancefloor.
