Ski Life

WE HAVE WRITTEN OVER 100 OF THESE SUPERBOOK EMAILS AND NEVER EVER HAVE WE HAD MORE FUN THAN WITH THIS ONE. HA-Y! SKI LIFE 1975 AND 1976. TWO WORLD CLASS IMPOSSIBLY RARE AMAZINES WITH MORE UNSEEN / UNFORGETTABLE IMAGES THAN WE THOUGHT POSSIBLE. THIS IS THE NEW REFERENCE ARENA. THIS IS THE VIRGIN SNOW.
Ready for this. There are two of these. 1975 and 1976. That's all that were ever published. They look small here side by side. But, no. They are not. They are large. Literally 1000 pictures a piece. Every single one of them would make it onto these weekly newsletters so this is just a fast, first thoughts first, edit. In Alaska they met Robin and Randy. And at that point we died.

Can you zoom enough to see the jeans? They are Bless / Margiela / Vetements off piste! The lower legs are constructed from the waistband and pockets of other jeans. Basically, they start again. And that shirt is... well, really nice.

You want mirror shades? You are going to see somewhere in the region of 200 pairs across these pages. You want layers. We've got layers on our layers.

How could we not show this? In both these issues the editorial team (of what was Made in USA and would become the long running Popeye magazine) travel to America and shoot Alaska (1975) and Colorado (1976).

Speechless really. This is just a crop from a large page of portraits. Pages of portraits. Men, women, American men. American women, Japanese men, Japanese women.

Frosty the showman. To pick out just one person in the powder... this guy has something of the Donald Sutherland about him.

Would you believe it? The interiors section (yes, they also have cars, cabins, and kit sections) goes inside the famed homes of the classic Handmade Houses book!

Need hair refs? Bottom left inset - both of them but especially Wavey Davey on the right.

Not to be outdone by the American ski-bums. The Japanese styling is is a world of its own. Real wild style.

Like, seriously?

These are incredible. They are also off the scale rare. We have known about them for two or three years and searched so hard online and in Japan and now finally one copy of each. They are not cheap. They are expensive. But given that the buyer would be alone in the world with the best set of fashion, lifestyle and graphics references we have ever seen - well worth it!
