Preston Gild 1922 Historical Pageant
This is just fantastic. Commemorative folio for the 1922 Preston Gild pageant published by Preston Guardian. Originally starting in 1902, the show took three days to complete, from Thursday to Sunday in September of 1922 in Avenham Park (which served as a natural amphitheatre). The 1922 show was entirely performed by 11,000 children of the town, across all classes, religions and schools. Their colourful outfits made by the parents. The outfits are what we can't get enough of! We wished there were coloured images, but it was a hundred years ago. They are vivid in blue though!
1922. Hardcover. In very good condition. 22.6 x 28.5cm. 128 pages.
